Dear Friends,
Forgiveness is the key to our relationship with God. God sent his Son to die for our sins. God wants us to live our lives in freedom from the bondage of sin. He also wants others forgiven. Jesus Christ died for the sins of that other person too. The only sin that won't be forgiven is the sin for which forgiveness has not been received.
SIN IS AGAINST GOD
Exd 10:16 Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.
Num 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.
Deu 9:16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, [and] had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
Jer 40:3 Now the LORD hath brought [it], and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
Jer 44:23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
2Sa 12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
Psa 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.
King David's actions of adultery, and his order that killed Uriah were sins against God as all sins are against God.
OUR PRAYER IS ASKING GOD TO FORGIVE AS WE ARE FORGIVEN
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
In the model prayer, we ask God to forgive use the same way we forgive those who sin against us.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
If we forgive trespasses, our tresspasses will be forgiven. Conversely, if we don't forgive our Father won't forgive ours. We must forgive.
JESUS TOLD THEM THEIR SINS ARE FORGIVEN, BUT THEY HAD TO BELIEVE HIM.
Mat 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
Mat 9:5 For whether is easier, to say, [Thy] sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
Mat 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
Men may be told that their sins are forgiven, but they must believe God.
FORGIVENESS OF ALL TRESPASSES
Mat 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Mat 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
We must forgive all their tresspasses.
Mar 2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
Mar 2:7 Why doth this [man] thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Mar 2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, [Thy] sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
Mar 2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
We can point to Jesus Christ and say for certain that all sins are forgiven.
YOUR FORGIVENESS IS DEPENPDANT ON FORGIVENESS
Mar 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mar 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
We must forgive every tresspass. We must not refuse to forgive everyone.
YOU MUST BELIEVE GOD'S PROMISE OF FORGIVENESS
Luk 5:20 And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.
Luk 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
Luk 5:23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?
Luk 5:24 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.
It is important that we recognize that only God can forgive sins, because all sins are against God. But God sent his Son to die for all of our sins. All our sins were yet future when Jesus died for our sins.
GOD WANTS US TO FORGIVE, NOT TO JUDGE, AND NOT TO CONDEMN
Luk 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Luk 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.
Luk 7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
Luk 7:49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
All our sins are gone.
WE MUST FORGIVE SINS AND NOT HOLD ANYTHING AGAINST A BROTHER
Luk 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Luk 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
That is the one condition to forgiveness. We must forgive everyone.
EVEN AS THEY CRUCIFIED HIM HE FORGAVE
Luk 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Act 13:38 Be it known unto you therefore, men [and] brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
Act 26:18 To open their eyes, [and] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Rom 4:7 [Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
EVEN THE BLATANT EVILDOER WHO SINNED, WAS FORGIVEN
2Cr 2:7 So that contrariwise ye [ought] rather to forgive [him], and comfort [him], lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
2Cr 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I [forgive] also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave [it], for your sakes [forgave I it] in the person of Christ;
He was engaged in sexual sin, but he was forgiven after he repented.
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Col 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins:
ALL IS FORGIVEN
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
All your tresspasses are forgiven, every one. All your sins were yet future when Jesus died on the cross for your sins.
Jam 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
If we have been sick, because of unforgiveness of self we should know all sins are forgiven.
1Jo 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We deal with sins as we recognize them. We take them to the cross, and the blood of Christ washes us clean.
1Jo 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
WE ALL HAVE A DEBT WE CANNOT PAY, AND GOD FORGIVES THAT DEBT, BUT HE ASKS THAT WE ALSO FORGIVE.
Mat 18:21-35 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took [him] by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Your transgressions are far as the east is from the west.
Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Forgiving as we are forgiven means we must forgive completely to receive complete forgiveness. We must forgive others, but we must also forgive ourselves. Without a doubt that all your sins are forgiven. The only sin that won't be forgiven is the sin for which forgiveness has not been received. It is important that you believe God. How many of your sins were yet future when Jesus died on the cross for your sins? All of them were yet future. All your sins are forgiven. The only thing we are asked to do is forgive. You are forgiven! As for those who have loved ones in heaven, you must also realize that nobody can live with God in heaven, unless they forgive. Those in heaven must be in agreement with God, who is the God of love who sent his Son to die for our sins. Heaven is filled with those willing to forgive, and desire that we receive forgiveness. You are forgiven!
