Dear Friends,
2Ti 3:16 & 17 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Hbr 4:12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
A strange thing happened when Jesus Christ began his ministry prior to the cross. The religious leaders of that day, the very ones who should have known better, did not recognize their Messiah. The Pharisees loved their own interpretations instead of what the Word of God says. They thought their own words were more important than God's Word. Jesus corrected them.
Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Mar 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Rom 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
1Cr 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
1Cr 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
You can believe the Word of God, or you can rely on your own limited resources. If there is no specific scriptural proof to indicate otherwise, all scripture must be taken as meaning precisely what it says. There are some who make generalities out of specific cases, and make it a license to allegorize portions that don't make sense by their interpretation. The Pharisees allegorized portions of the scripture they did not understand, which resulted in a national tragedy. They were respecters of persons, prizing their own intellectualism above the Word of God. What we say is only valid to the extent it agrees with what God says. Every word of God is true!
Isa 55:9 For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
1Cr 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Having created the universe including man, God knows so much more than we can imagine. He can see the consequences of our actions before we do them. Some accuse Christians put their brains on hold when attending church. The opposite is true. We know enough to know that God is right!
May God give you a deep appreciation for the Word of Truth,
theophilos
